Musicians of the Joe Lastie's New Orleans Sound spoke about jazz traditions with journalists. "Our mission in general and here at the festival is to preserve the traditions of classical jazz," Joe Lastie, the band's leader, said.
The band was set up a year ago in New Orleans. "It is a special city, a city that breathes music, breathes jazz. I see my objective and our band's purpose in promoting jazz and spreading its cultural heritage," Edward Rubio joined in.
According to the band's members, even though jazz is highly intellectual music, you can really feel it on a physical level.
"Our band was created to show that traditional classical jazz is not dying. Today we will make people feel real New Orleans jazz," the musicians said.
